What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is a form of physical exercise that focuses on posture, core stability, balance, control, strength, flexibility, and breathing. The Pilates Method was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century in Germany. These days, Clinical Pilates is often used in conjunction with physiotherapy as a means of treating a variety of injuries, particularly those of the neck and back. This is based on literature that demonstrates strong evidence to support the use of therapeutic exercise in the management of patients with injuries, particularly low back pain. Recent research advocates the retraining of the deep stabilizing muscles for patients with low back pain. Clinical Pilates focuses on the retraining and recruitment of these stabilizing muscles (core stability) as well as improving posture, strength and flexibility. Beauty salon Northern Beaches did an excellent job in fixing my hair so it looks nice when I go to party.

Although Pilates can be extremely beneficial for patients with certain injuries it needs to be specific to the individual and not used as a generic tool for everyone. Clinical Pilates (as distinct to generic Pilates classes) identifies this key issue by applying carefully selected exercises to patients with specific injuries. This ensures optimal gains whilst minimizing the likelihood of injury aggravation. If you are interested in commencing Pilates for your injury, it is essential to have a review with a physiotherapist to assess the suitability of a core stability program for you.

Pilates Principles

There are 6 basic Pilates principles that need to be applied to all Pilates exercises to ensure maximal benefit.

These include:

1. Concentration

Focus on correct performance of each Pilates exercise and the specific muscles involved.

2. Centering

Focus on achieving neutral spine and activating the core stabilising muscles (pelvic floor and transversus abdominus) to support the lower back and pelvis. (To learn how to activate these stabilising muscles see Pilates – Before You Start).

3. Control

Maintain optimal posture and control with all movements.

4. Flowing Movement

Work smoothly and efficiently with all movements.

5. Precision

Perform each Pilates exercise with attention to detail to ensure correct technique.

6. Breathing

Maintain relaxed, normal breathing throughout all Pilates exercises. Do not hold your breath.

Benefits of Clinical Pilates

There are numerous benefits to be gained from performing Clinical Pilates exercises. Some of these include:

  • Improved posture and core stability

What are Electrician Gloves?

24 hour electrician Melbourne services provide a complete range of emergency and non-emergency electrical services specialising in all types of commercial, residential & industrial work from small to large jobs. This is one of the most important accessories for every specialist in the field as the first thing that everyone should consider is his own safety. While a lot of the specialists are going to argue that electrician gloves are hard to use because they are greatly uncomfortable, there are a few things to be considered which could dramatically change this fact. Right off the bat, they offer shock protection, but they also provide burn protection, which is also a real benefit. Arc flashes are quite common, and if that’s the case, an instant and severe burn are almost guaranteed. Well, using specifically manufactured rubber gloves can change this.

The first thing that almost every electrician is going to complain about is the fact that electrician gloves are saggy and hard to use. Well, this is only if you fail to purchase those which actually fit. Many electrician specialists work in larger companies and the gloves that they are given are often the same size and are purchased by their superiors. Well, the thing to do is go ahead and inform the manager of your size and let him know that you’d want electrician gloves with this particular size. Make sure to take into account the measures of your dominant hand as there might be some slight variations and you have to make sure that the perfect fit is supplied for the hand you use the most.

It’s important to properly store your electrician gloves. The most effective and less-damaging way for you to do so is to place them with the cuffs facing down in their particular storage compartments. You should also consider storing the gloves at a cool as well as dry location and avoid exposing them to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as heat and rubber don’t exactly go hand in hand.

Know more that it might also be possible for you to need some sort of dust placement on your hands because the sweat a lot when using your gloves. If that’s the case, you should most definitely avoid using products which are known to contain talc. This is due to the fact that talc doesn’t go along well with rubber, and it’s perfectly capable of degrading the insulation that your gloves provide.

This is likely to be your single, most important asset as an electric specialist. This particular piece of accessory is going to provide you with all the protection you need. If you make sure that the electrician gloves you use are of high quality and are a proper fit, you will quickly grow accustomed to them and won’t even notice you are wearing them. At the same time, they’d provide you with all the protection you need to safely conduct your work.

The Basics of Waste Management

Rubbish removal Northern Beaches Sydney collect and dispose of all types of residential and trade bulky waste on a same/next day basis.

There is a big emphasis on waste disposal methods. The methods are largely different, with many factors that dictate the use of one over the other. One such is the level of development, the character of the area, i.e. whether it’s rural or metropolitan and general policies established by local governments. In any case, the most popular waste disposal methods are:

Landfill – by far the most popular method around the globe. The method features burying a big volume of waste in land, usually a location which is vacant and designated for the purpose of a landfill. Modern landfills represent a sanitised method for waste removal, however older and poorly designed areas are more problematic. Features of responsible and modern landfills include compressing the waste into more compact form, special lining and gas extraction installations, which help with extracting the gas produced in the waste to the surface.
Incineration – in essence this represents combustion of waste removal The thermal treatment of materials turns them from solid state to steam, gas, debris, ash and heat. The most significant drawback of this method is that it creates dangerous gases, which can be hazardous to the environment. This is a common alternative for landfill methods, often because the scarcity of land leads to the need to dispose of the waste in a different manner.
Recycling – recycling by definition features turning waste materials into usable products. The main benefit of recycling is that it uses materials again instead of creating new ones, in which lies the main benefit of this waste disposal It is largely preferred and constantly being developed and made more effective because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and conserves energy, which would otherwise be used in the creation of raw materials.
Organic reprocessing – material coming from organic waste removal source, such as kitchen waste, garden plants and leaves, in some cases even paper. Reprocessing of such organic matter occurs on a compost pile, where biological decomposition takes place. The resulting material is compost or mulch, which finds many uses in gardening and landscaping.
Energy recovery – generating energy, through combustion of waste products is another great method of waste disposal. There are two most common heat treatments that work best for energy recovery: gasification and pyrolylis. Both of them feature heating up materials without the supply of oxygen. A byproduct, known as char, is created in the process, but it too can be included in the production process of usable materials.
Reduction and avoidance – perhaps the most advocated method for waste handling is prevention and reduction of waste. Waste reduction is considered among the best waste clearance methods, in that it eliminates the need for special handling of waste. Know more about products, designed for reusing are becoming ever more popular.

These are the most popular waste disposal methods, which are used around the world. There are drawbacks and benefits to each of them, so resorting to one or another should be done with care.

Waste Management and Methods of Waste Disposal

The term waste management describes the whole process of collecting, storing, unloading, reusing or recycling. From this explanation it is obvious that waste management is an environmental friendly activity which should be taken very seriously. There are two main techniques of waste management – hygienic one or crafted waste dump and composting. The waste disposal Sydney promote innovation to avoid waste and improve recycling outcomes.

Other existing methods are bailing, petrification, pyrolysis and more. The approaches of stream discarding, sanitary landfill and land interment permanent garbage disposal approaches help to lower the waste quantity.

Solid Waste Management in Developing Countries

There are many nations that have implemented these techniques into their waste administrations, but some of them have failed. Such country is Nigeria, the solid waste management is a critical point in the policy of the country. The Nigerian government is taking all possible measures to utilize those techniques but still they’ve not completely done it.

The main problem for Nigeria is the lack of involvement in strong waste management of some Nigerian areas. These are are also large generators of waste in the country.

The amount of solid waste is increasing day after day and the government in the country is quite concerned about the situation. Recycling can be the answer to their waste management issues. Recycling by plummeting items to fresh basic materials will definitely decrease the discharge of greenhouse gases. This will help to prevent the contamination of the water and air, as well.

The damage it can cause to our world is quite disturbing and if we do not apply some measures in the correct time, if we continue to live against not with the environment, then soon the moment from which no one could save us from will come – natural disasters.

If we are not able to take the appropriate waste administration decisions now, what about the future when more and more waste will be accumulated and should need disposal. The climate is already warmer than before, the contamination of air is in good shape but there are times when it is not. Know more all of these factors have an effect on the glaciers and are future threat for flooding some countries.

There are many countries that follow the modern and already proven strategies of waste proper management but some are failing in their efforts. We already took a closer look on NigeriaScience Articles, where the waste management is a crucial issue for the Nigerian government whose efforts for implementing the waste management techniques are still not fully successful.

5 Essential Surfing Workouts

Surfing is a sport that you can enjoy for a lifetime but accompanied with it is using a surfing app. It’s fun, exciting, and even cathartic at times. No matter what your skill level, you’ll get a great workout surfing. But there are many surf exercises you can do to get your body and breathing in top shape before paddling out. Here’s a few:

Balance

Surfing requires a high degree of balance, but most rides aren’t long enough to have a dramatic training effect on your balance. Stand on a balance board and do a variety of squats and lunges. If you don’t have a balance board, stand on one foot with your eyes closed. Try to stay balanced for 30 seconds or more. Like all skills, your balance improves the more you practice, so practice daily.

Core: Side Plank with Reach Through

Strong core muscles stabilize your torso to help your paddling, balance, and rotation through turns. The side plank and reach-through exercise emphasizes the oblique muscles and adds a rotational component. Prop yourself up on your side with your right side closest to the floor. Stack your feet and stabilize with your right forearm. Straighten your left arm toward the sky and look up at your left hand. Reach your left hand underneath and behind your body. Follow your hand with your head and eyes. Keep your torso braced and don’t let your hips drop. Do 1 to 3 sets of 15 to 20 reps per side.

Leg Strength: Single Leg Squats

Stronger legs help you stay balanced and in control of your board. Whether you are a high-performance surfer or just getting started, single leg squats will develop the core, hip, and leg strength to perform at your best. Stand on your right foot and lift your left foot about 5 inches off the ground. Keeping your right knee aligned with your middle right toe, lower down to a 45-degree knee bend. Keep your back straight and your head in line with your shoulders. Don’t let your knee track too far past your toes. Complete 5 reps on each leg, holding for 1 to 3 seconds in the lowest position. For more challenge, hold a medicine ball at your chest or increase the depth of the squat.

Pre-Surf Warm Up: Deep Squat with Overhead Reach

Before you paddle out, you want a quick warm-up to loosen your hips and shoulders. Place your feet a little wider than shoulder width apart. Your toes can turn out slightly. Squat down, keeping your torso straight and your gaze forward. Touch the ground with both hands, pause, and then stand back up. As you stand up, circle your arms upward and reach toward the sky. Repeat 10 to 15 times.

Paddling

A surf session is about 50% paddling compared to the 5% spent wave-riding (Mendez-Villanueva & Bishop, 2005). It’s safe to say if your paddling muscles are not conditioned, you will have to cut your session short. The following pool workout will challenge your paddling endurance, strength, and power.

Warm Up:
5 minutes of mixed strokes.

Main Set:
2 x 100 yards at a brisk but comfortable pace (endurance).
3 x 50 yards at a faster pace than the previous set, with 10 pushups after each 50 yard effort (strength).
4 x 25 yards all out (power).

Rest for 15 to 20 seconds between each effort. Rest for 2 minutes before repeating a second round.

Breath Control:
Finish with 3 to 5 sets underwater. Swim one lap at endurance pace above the water. When you turn at the wall, swim underwater as far as you can while holding your breath. This drill simulates paddling and then having to duck-dive a wave. It also prepares you mentally if you get held underwater. For safety, make sure you do this drill with a partner. Work on staying calm and relaxed, especially when you feel the need to come up for air.

Which Home Remodeling Projects Are Worth Your Money?

Even if you’re not planning to sell your home anytime soon, it’s an inevitable question when you consider remodeling: How much will this improvement add to the value of my home? If you are looking to have your bathroom and kitchen renovations Sydney then our range of packages will undoubtedly have something to meet your tastes.

Surprisingly, much of the time the answer is not as much value as it costs to actually make the improvement.

But some home renovations bring you more bang for your buck than others.

The top-ranking home improvement? A new front door, which on average adds 96.6 percent of the amount you spent to the value to your home, according to Remodeling magazine’s annual Cost vs. Value Report for 2014.

But “it has to be the right front door,” says Steven Aaron, owner of the Steve Aaron Realtor Group at Keller Williams Beverly Hills and one of the protagonists of the HGTV series “Selling LA.” Keep in mind that sometimes painting the existing front door provides the same payoff.

All 35 projects included in the Cost vs. Value report added more value this year than last year, and this is the second consecutive year of increases after several years of decline.

Replacing old elements, such as doors, windows and siding, in general yielded a better financial return than bigger remodeling projects, such as additions. But real estate agents and remodelers say updated kitchens and baths still bring a significant payoff, especially at resale time. The report found that kitchen projects yielded a higher return than bath projects, with a minor kitchen remodel adding 82.7 percent of the project’s cost back to the home’s value. Kitchens are important, Aaron says, because would-be buyers often overestimate how much they would cost to update.

“If you have a dated kitchen … and a buyer walks into that kitchen, they’re going to think that in order to redo that kitchen, they’re going to have to spend $40,000 or $50,000,” Aaron says.

But the average cost of a minor kitchen remodel – new cabinet doors, appliances, countertops, sink, faucet, paint and hardware – was $18,856 nationwide, according to the Cost vs. Value report. Savvy shoppers can do it for less than the buyer assumes.

But, like the front door, it’s important to do the right kitchen remodel. Adding a $75,000 kitchen to a $100,000 house is unlikely to yield $75,000 in value, although it may make you a happy chef. As a general rule, look to spend about 25 percent of the home’s value for a new kitchen and 12 percent to 15 percent for an updated bathroom, says David Pekel, president and CEO of Pekel Construction in Milwaukee and a master certified remodeler.

Putting an ultramodern kitchen into a 100-year-old Tudor home isn’t smart, either. “Whatever your home improvement is … I strongly discourage designing new spaces in a fashion that’s incongruous with the rest of the house’s architectural vernacular,” Pekel says. “It doesn’t really add value. It detracts.”

Whether certain improvements will pay off varies not only regionally, but also neighborhood by neighborhood, based on who is going to live in the house. For example, a pool adds more value to homes in some Los Angeles neighborhoods than in others, Aaron says. In cities with colder climates, a pool may not add any value. (Pools are not included in the Cost vs. Value report.)

Renovations within the existing envelope of your home – those that don’t require you to build an addition or expand the roof and foundation – often return more value than building extra rooms onto your home. For one thing, they’re much cheaper.

Converting an attic into a bedroom ranked third of the 35 improvements in the Cost vs. Value report, returning 84.3 percent of the amount spent. Turning attics into usable space is a popular and profitable improvement in the Milwaukee area, where much of the housing is older, Pekel says.

Adding a powder room and then closing off a hall bathroom to make a bedroom suite is popular in Los Angeles, and it doesn’t require adding to the home. But an addition can pay – especially the right addition. Aaron tells the story of an investor client who added a 500-square-foot family room off the kitchen of a 1,200-square-foot house in the Los Angeles area, opening the home to the yard. The cost was $20,000, but it added $100,000 to the value of the house, which sold for $850,000 instead of the projected $750,000. “It’s a smart addition that’s not that expensive,” Aaron says.

Replacing windows with French doors that open to the backyard is another popular, and not very expensive, renovation project. “It makes the room feel bigger and gives you somewhere to go,” Aaron says. “Suddenly your home just feels more spacious.”

In the years before the real estate market crashed, additions were the most popular remodeling project, Pekel say, with family rooms, kitchens and master suites among the top choices. But in the current lending climate, it’s easier to get a mortgage to buy a bigger house than it is to get a home equity line of credit to add to an existing home.

Among the home improvement projects Pekel is seeing these days, many focus on updating the envelopes of homes with new siding, windows and insulation. For people who plan to stay in their homes, investing in those projects, as well as in more energy-efficient heating and air conditioning systems and appliances, saves money all year.

He points out that resale value is one factor to consider in a remodeling project, but the value to you as an occupant matters as well. This is especially important if you plan to stay in the home for a long time.

“Remodeling from the perspective of looking at it from an investment strategy is a terrible model,” Pekel says. “What we can’t quantify is the value of lifestyle.” For comfortable life I strongly suggest that we need to build your bathroom and kitchen beautifully, click here to better know us.

Here are the home renovations that Remodeling’s Cost vs. Value study says will give you the biggest bang for your buck, as well as projects that generate the lowest return.

Renovations that bring the greatest percentage return on investment:

  • Entry door replacement: 96.6 percent
  • Deck addition (wood): 87.4 percent
  • Attic bedroom: 84.3 percent
  • Garage door replacement: 83.7 percent
  • Minor kitchen remodel: 82.7 percent

Renovations that yield the smallest return:

  • Home office remodel: 48.9 percent
  • Sunroom addition: 51.7 percent
  • Bathroom addition: 60.1 percent
  • Backup power generation: 67.5 percent
  • Master suite addition: 67.5 percent

Looking For A New Level – Surfski Training With Sean Rice

Surfski paddling is so much fun, just getting out on the water is enough to keep you hooked for life. But, surfskis and fitness paddling go hand and hand, which often leads to paddlers discovering the fantastic world of surfski racing. A new commitment to the fitness paddling and training lifestyle shortly follows! Getting a surfing app is what you will do first before watching surf contest.

In the beginning, just adding miles, keeping track of times and exploring new conditions to paddle in is usually enough for those new to the sport. But as paddlers become more comfortable in their boat, and more experienced and ambitious, the fire to improve and test abilities inevitably grows.

The only way to make real forward progress in your kayak racing and training is to plan properly, and then put the time in. You don’t want to take all the fun out of paddling, but taking the work seriously enables you to push harder and pass through boundaries. Setting and achieving goals is very gratifying, and can inspire you to step outside your comfort zone and discover aspects of the sport that weren’t apparent before.

Coaches and top athletes are a wealth of information on this subject. Who better to learn from than those who put it into action day in and day out? South African surfski paddler Sean Rice has made a name for himself on the international surfski racing circuit over the last few years, with podium finishes all over the world. Sean paddles out of Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club in Cape Town, and is sponsored by Think Kayaks. Ambassador of the sport that he is, Sean took time to share some training tips and advice on how to take your surfski paddling to the next level.

Sean’s 10 Tips for Improved Surfski Training:

Do a minimum of 3 paddling sessions a week if you are looking to improve on your skill level. But, if you really want to see an improvement in performance, do 3-4 sessions during the week plus a longer one of 1-2 hours every weekend. Throw in some cross training such as running or swimming and soon you’ll be breaking through your PB’s (personal bests). It’s always a bonus to get training programs written for you by a coach. It takes away the worry about whether you’re doing the right thing or not.
Just about every session we do (except the long ocean paddles) revolve around some kind of interval training. Resting is important between intervals, but try limiting it to 1 minute for short sprints and 2 minutes for longer intervals such as 2000m’s. Being fast gets you onto runs which will then do the hard work for you!
I would suggest most of your interval sessions should be done on flat water, and the long distance paddles on the ocean. Speed and power should be all you are worrying about during interval sessions. Obviously take what you get water wise, but a good idea is to try timing your interval sessions for the less windy days (or parts of the day).
For ocean paddling, I would always choose downwind paddling if I have the choice. It takes a lot of skill and time to perfect downwind paddling, and it is fun, so it only makes sense to do it as much as possible! I personally like circuit courses as well every few sessions, as it gives you a bit of everything.
An unfortunate reality: the best tip for gaining competency on the ocean really is “time in the boat” (ha ha). Keep going out and get your confidence up, and that will have the biggest positive affect on your paddling.
There are quite a few really good technique videos on YouTube these days, a lot of them from the sprinters. Go through a couple of them and then practice while you do your warm up and warm down every session. No one with a sense of humor likes to go out and slog away for an hour’s session solely on technique, so I try compensating by doing a little every session.
Gym work does pay off. It takes a while, but with hard work it does help. I do 3 gym sessions a week to maintain strength. Concentrate on body weight exercises in the beginning and get advice on good technique. It’s the best way to get out of the cold weather as well!
Comfort directly affects your confidence in the boat, which directly affects your boat speed. Being comfortable is building block number one so boat choice is very important. I like to explain it to people this way: yes an elite boat such as the Think Uno Max may be super-fast, but with surfski paddling if you miss just one stroke it can make the difference. It only takes one missed stroke to miss one run, which unfortunately can cost you 50-60m! Miss a few strokes during a race and all of a sudden it makes more sense to slide back into the Evo II, which is more stable so that you don’t sacrifice your overall speed.
I don’t take any sports supplements myself, but I do race and train with a very simple electrolyte juice. They’re all much the same with regards to nutrition, but some can be quite potent and might upset your stomach over longer distances. I normally put in just less than what the tub advises as to make it easier to drink. Over really long races such as the Cape Point Challenge (50km), I normally take some energy gels with me. Two or three for the race, and one back up just in case!
Set GOALS! Make them attainable goals so that you know where you’re heading and what you want to achieve from your training – and never be shy to ask the guys around you for advice!

If you would like advice with training programs please feel free to send me an email at [email protected] – I would be more than happy to help out!

Check out this great video of Sean in action. In August 2011 he stopped by Deep Cove Canoe & Kayak in Vancouver, on his way to the US Surfski Championships in San Francisco. • Formica countertops
  • Porcelain countertops

Combing multi-color surface products with top or intermixed catalyzed products creates a new, up-to-date granite look for your existing countertops. The same products can even be used on your walls and around your tub!

Which Colors Should You Choose for Your Tub?

Deciding on the colors you want for your refinished bathtub can be hard. That’s why we’ve come up with some tips.

  • You should know that the lighter the color, the easier it is to maintain.
  • Your room will feel larger when you use a lighter color.
  • Very few home buyers object to white in the bathroom. So if you’re fixing up your home to sell, white would be a good option. When showing off your bathroom, the white color will show better. Plus, white will most likely match the color of your sink and toilet making a complete bathroom set.
  • We don’t refinish in dark colors. We’ll be happy to give you any medium or light color, but we know that darker colors aren’t practical to maintain.

Wide Variety of Granite Bathtub Choices

At BSR of Hawaii, we’ve made the effort to provide you with examples of our available multi-color granite bathtub choices.

Please know that every computer monitor picks up colors differently, so the color you see will most likely not be the exact color of the manufacturer’s color ship. However, the examples will at least give you an idea of the shade.

If you’d like to see a more exact color, you’ll need to visit a dealer’s showroom or receive a color chart from the color source. Many of our customers will visit a home improvement store, such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, or Ace Hardware.

You can also go to a store that sells bathroom products like toilets, tubs, and sinks. Next, tell us the brand and color of the specific manufacturer’s product, such as Kohler almond, American Standard bone, or Toto silver.

Another option is to pick up a color chip from one of the stores and call us with the color chip information so we can match the color.

Solid Bathtub Colors Add Elegance

As we’ve said before, you can go to a store that sells bathtubs and select the manufacturer’s name and color of your choice so that we can make it for you, or you can choose a color chip from any paint provider such as City Mill, Home Depot, or Lowe’s and we’ll get the color made for you.

If you decide to pick a color from a chip at the hardware store, you won’t be able to find a matching sink or toilet unless it’s a color chip from a bathtub manufacturer.

With 38 years of experience, we know that lighter colors are easier to maintain, with white and beige almond tones being the most preferable. We only mix medium to light colors because we know from experience that dark colors are hard to maintain. If you really want a dark color, go with a multi-stone color.

Colors can be combined to create a custom bath. Most people choose to have us refinish their tub and wall surround in one solid color to save money. However, you can always make the tub one color and the walls another color. Accent lines are available, too.

For example, we could make the tub blue, the tile around it bone, and then accent one row of the tile the same color blue as the tub. This is a fun way to customize your bathroom, but it does cost more and takes a second day to complete, click here.
